LANEWAY GALLERIES UNDER SPOTLIGHT
TAKE an artwalk down Flinders Lane next week when a special event shines a light on galleries in the city hotspot.
Ever popular with foodies, the famous laneway is also home to eight exhibition spaces, which will stay open late for Nite Art on July 23.
Event founder Deborah Stahle says Night Art, now in its third year, aims to draw worthy attention to a concentration of galleries showing the work of “many and varied” talented artists.
Flinders Lane Gallery invites visitors to experience works as they are being created, with artists Jon Eiseman and Josh Robbins starting new pieces.
At Karen Woodbury Gallery, prominent Australian artist Philip Wolfhagen will present Other Worlds, a new collection of landscapes inspired by the artist’s experiences in Tasmania’s Skullbones Plains.
In total, the works of more than 10 artists will be shown across photography, video, paintings and site-responsive installations.
The other galleries involved are: Blindside ARI, Chin Chin Wall of Art, CAVES gallery, Stephen McLaughlan gallery, Murray White Room and Chapter House Lane.
