$28m loss

- Iceland · Belgium · Belarus

QUEENSLAND Racing Minister Bill Byrne won’t rule out prizemoney cuts as a result of a projected $28 million Racing Queensland loss this financial year.

Asked yesterday whether prizemoney could be chopped, Byrne said he was not ruling anything in or out.

There is widespread concern in the racing industry in Queensland that recent boosts in prizemoney could be slashed by the Labor Government.

But Byrne did commit to prizemoney levels remaining stable for the next six months while he and Racing Queensland acting chief executive Ian Hall consulted the industry.
