AFL keen on Eti­had


THERE is mount­ing spec­u­la­tion about an early sale of Eti­had Sta­dium to the AFL af­ter re­cent dis­cus­sions be­tween the league and of­fi­cials from ten­ant clubs re­gard­ing the pos­si­ble re­fur­bish­ment of the venue.

Un­der its long-term lease ar­range­ment, the AFL can pur­chase the venue for just $30 mil­lion in 2025, how­ever sev­eral of the ma­jor in­vestors in the sta­dium’s own­er­ship are keen on an ear­lier sale.

Bosses from the ten­ant clubs — which in­clude Essendon, Carl­ton, St Kilda, North Mel­bourne and the Western Bull­dogs — were asked what changes and up­grades they would like to see at the 15year-old sta­dium.
