Wheel and deal Gaz in
IT’S Gary Ablett week. The greatest player in SuperCoach is back — a week early.
We thought we’d have another round to prepare a trade strategy to snare the Gold Coast captain as his price bottomed out.
Then he pumps out a 153 against the Western Bulldogs and the SuperCoach world goes into meltdown trying to figure out how to get Ablett into our teams — now.
If he can score at least 119 this week, his price will start to rise again from its current low point of $669,800.
And we’re willing to bet he’ll make it considering he has scored 145, 160 and 164 in his past three games against this week’s opponent, Greater Western Sydney.
The three most popular players to make way for Ablett are Dylan Shiel, Patrick Cripps and Joel Selwood.
Shiel is out for 6-12 weeks so there’s no point keeping him, while Selwood will miss just one week but his form struggles this season make an Ablett switch a big win.
Cripps has been possibly the buy of the season, averaging 95 points and adding $257,000 to his Round 1 price.
But he might be starting to feel the strain of a long season, breaking the 100-point barrier just once in his past seven games and averaging 82 points in his past three. Time to thank him for his work and put him out to pasture.
For most players, getting Ablett will take two trades — use one to turn a forward bench player into Bulldog Caleb Daniel or a defender into Magpie Brayden Maynard (both on the bubble this week) and use the cash to replace Cripps with Ablett.
Then make Gaz captain.
