Man faces ji­had trial

A MEL­BOURNE dis­abil­ity pen­sioner has been or­dered to stand trial ac­cused of fund­ing an Amer­i­can-born Is­lamic State fighter and pro­pa­gan­dist.

Isa Kocoglu, 44, al­legedly sent al­most $4000 with on­line pay­ment sys­tem PayPal to known ji­hadist Yahya al-Bahrumi, born in Texas as John Ge­orge­las, be­tween Novem­ber 2013 and Au­gust 2014.

Mr Kocoglu, who is on a pen­sion be­cause of his obe­sity and men­tal health is­sues, faced a hear­ing in Mel­bourne Mag­is­trates’ Court yes­ter­day and was com­mit­ted to stand trial on seven charges.
