The messages, obtained by the Herald Sun, reveal Dannyll wanted help in the hours before her death, but couldn’t arrange a lift. “I am scared of Scott,” Ms Goodsell wrote in one message.

HARROWING text messages reveal a slain mother’s final cry for help shortly before she was allegedly killed by her partner.

Dannyll Goodsell, 33, told friends she was “scared” of her boyfriend three hours before her brutalised body was discovered in her burning unit in Mount Pleasant on Friday last week.

The text messages reveal she sought help from friends shortly before 5am that morning. “I am scared of Scott,” she wrote to a friend.

Her partner, Scott Cameron, 35, has been charged with her murder.

The texts, obtained by the Herald Sun, reveal Ms Goodsell wanted help in the hours before her death but had “no wheels” and couldn’t arrange a lift.

The mother of two never responded when asked by her friend if she wanted her to come to her.

“Was too late,” the friend told the Herald Sun.

“She wanted us there because she was scared. She never told me she was afraid until that night.”

The Herald Sun understands an edged weapon was used to kill Ms Goodsell.

Another friend, Sharalee Norman, said she witnessed Mr Cameron being abusive toward Ms Goodsell throughout their relationship.

“Her last minutes would have been absolutely terrifying,” she said. “The cops were there every second day … and now she’s gone.”

The friend who received the texts said Mr Cameron appeared to be possessive of the mum. “He wouldn’t leave her alone. Would follow her to the toilet,” she said.

Ms Goodsell’s badly injured body was discovered by emergency workers after they extinguished a fire at the share house.

Homicide squad detectives ruled out fire as the cause of death and Mr Cameron was charged with her murder last Saturday.

He failed to front Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on Monday due to problems in custody. The accused killer was remanded in custody and will reappear in court in February next year.

Ms Goodsell had a young son and daughter, who lived interstate.

Her friend said she began a relationship with Mr Cameron about three to four months prior to her death.

He and his brother had been living with her at the Kenworthy Place unit, said the friend. The property was well known in the neighbourhood for its troubled history.

Ms Goodsell’s friend, who also used to live at the unit, said a tomahawk and machete were among the weapons kept inside the house.

The slain mum moved from NSW to the Ballarat region about three years ago.

Heartbroken friends expressed their regret at not being there to “protect” her.

“A thousand words can’t bring you back … I know because I’ve tried. I’m sorry I wasn’t there to protect you,” wrote friend Jay Khann.

Ms Goodsell was one of six women murdered in just five days last week.

Police have charged men with all but one of the deaths, which remains unsolved.

Destroy the Joint, which documents domestic violence deaths, has reported 54 women have died due to violence this year. The deaths have already surpassed the number recorded across 2017.

The White Ribbon Foundation reports one woman dies at the alleged hands of a partner on average each week.

A GoFund Me page has been established to support Ms Goodsell’s children.
