VIC­TO­RIA has recorded the na­tion’s sharpest drop in owner-oc­cu­pier home loan ap­provals.

Across Aus­tralia the num­ber of owner-oc­cu­pier mort­gages ap­proved in Septem­ber dropped by 1 per cent, sea­son­ally ad­justed num­bers from the Aus­tralian Bureau of Statis­tics show.

The value of to­tal hous­ing fi­nance was down 3.8 per cent at $29.1 bil­lion for the month, ac­cord­ing to the num­bers re­leased yes­ter­day.

Vic­to­ria and the Aus­tralian Cap­i­tal Ter­ri­tory had the sharpest Septem­ber drop in owner-oc­cu­pier home loan ap­provals.

A to­tal of 652, or 4.3 per cent, fewer were ap­proved in Vic­to­ria, and there were 41, or 3.7 per cent, fewer in the ACT.
