KATIE’S BIG PUSH TO BEAT BLUES

Herald Sun - - NEWS - KATE SALEMME

WESTERN Bulldogs AFLW skipper Katie Brennan was this morning more than halfway through hosting a 24-hour sled push in aid of Beyond Blue, to increase awareness of mental health.

She and fitness guru Danny Kennedy have come together for the second such event. Last year, he raised $10,000, but hopes to hit more than $15,000 by 6pm tonight with Brennan’s help.

The sled push requires a 20kg sled with a 20kg weight plate to be moving for the whole 24 hours.

Kennedy said: “I wanted to do something that’s extremely challenging and hasn’t been done before.

“A lot of people struggle at some point with anxiety and depression, and I saw a similarity between pushing a sled and the uphill battle you’ve got (with) mental health problems.”

Brennan said before the event started last evening at her gym, KB.Performance, in Coburg: “It’s a really great cause and I am absolutely thrilled to be teaming up with Danny to do our bit. It’s a cause close to my heart.” DONATE AT mycause.com.au/ page/187940/24-hour-sled-push
