Drop off ill passengers

Herald Sun - - NEWS - JAMES DOWLING

SICK passengers will now be allowed to get off the train and wait for help at the platform, under a new trial.

Those feeling unwell will be able to be moved off the train and placed on the platform or transported to a betterequipped nearby station.

Previously, sick passengers were left on the train until help arrived but after a review, the government and Public Transport Victoria found this was not the best way to treat them.

Chief paramedic Alan Eade said most people who fell ill could be best treated on the platform where there was water, shade and fresh air.
