GOLD VISAS TARGETED
SO-CALLED “golden visas” for foreign tycoons who invest at least $3.54 million in the UK will be suspended in a crackdown on crime and money laundering.
Since 2008, Tier 1 visas have been issued to 3709 people, including 807 Russians, letting them skip immigration queues and snap up everything from property to football clubs.
Applicants will now face audits of their financial and business interests.
Immigration Minister Caroline Nokes said: “We will not tolerate people who do not play by the rules … only genuine investors, who intend to support UK businesses, can benefit from our immigration system.’
