WEATHER records could be shattered today and tomorrow as parts of northern Victoria brace for consecutive days in the mid-40s.

The Bureau of Meteorology said the intense heat would come close to toppling the all-time highs set on Black Saturday in 2009.

Echuca, Kyabram, AlburyWodonga, Bendigo and Kerang could all be in for their hottest days on record as temperatures soar.

Mildura is tipped to be the hottest town in the state, with two straight days of 46C (today and tomorrow), followed by 45C on Thursday.

Weather bureau senior forecaster Michael Efron said there would be no relief for the north of the state until Saturday, and warned: “It’s a shocking week coming up.”
