FOUR EASY-PEASY STYLING HACKS
Don’t you love an easy decorator fix? Something you can switch, change up or improve without too much blood, sweat or tears. I’m absolutely all for it.
The best part about all of these easy style hacks is that they don’t cost much either. So not only do they require almost no elbow grease, but your bank account is going to love you.
1. Paint your benchtop. Really.
Been looking at your bench for ages now, wishing it would somehow transform into the marble countertop of your dreams?
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it’s not going to happen. What you can do, though, is give your benchtop a new lease on life using paint – and have it look just as stylish.
Simply pop to the hardware store and buy a countertop transformation kit from Rust-oleum. It goes on smooth and the look lasts for ages.
2. Slap on some removable wallpaper
The key word here (for those of you scared of wallpaper) is removable.
There’s an awesome Aussie retailer called Luxe Walls that stocks tonnes of wallpaper designs that go up easily and peel off your walls without leaving any damage.
It’s one of the easiest ways to give wallpaper a go and change the look of your room, all without any risk.
3. Cover a canvas in your fave fabric
If you’re in love with pretty materials, don’t just buy them and keep them locked away in a cupboard, hoping you’ll one day get the motivation to make a cushion.
Instead, grab a cheap canvas and cover it in a patterned fabric. All you need is a staple gun, the canvas and the fabric.
4. Pimp the wall above your bed
The wall above your bed is prime styling real estate. But so often people don’t think beyond having a photograph or artwork in this zone.
Forget the traditional and try placing a macrame wall hanging in this spot to create your own dramatic bedhead. You could also install a thin shelf and display plants here, or opt to place a series of wall decals on the wall to create a graphic visual moment.
You could also hang fairy lights above the bedhead, a light box displaying a daily quote of your choice, or even a juju hat to introduce more texture.
