AFTER vis­it­ing her daugh­ter in Thai­land in 2010 and try­ing yoga for the first time, owner of Yumba Yoga Tanya Tre­varthen fell in love, and has never looked back.

“Al­ways be­ing an active per­son, I didn’t think yoga would work the body enough, how wrong was I,” Tanya says.

Tanya did her teacher train­ing through a Gold Coast yoga stu­dio, My Health Yoga.

“Once I com­pleted my Cer­tifi­cate 1 Yoga Teacher, my friends con­vinced me to teach and loved my classes,” Tanya adds.

In Jan­uary 2016, Tanya started teach­ing hatha yoga at Perserver­ance Hall of a Mon­day morn­ing.

“I de­cided to teach hatha yoga as these asanas are not fast but you hold them for longer and ex­pe­ri­ence cor­rect po­si­tions, and I also use props,” Tanya notes.

At Yumba Yoga, all lev­els are wel­come and no ex­pe­ri­ence is re­quired.

“Yoga is so re­ward­ing in many ar­eas — flex­i­bil­ity, strength, fo­cus, mind­ful­ness, weight loss and just mak­ing you feel amaz­ing,” Tanya says.
