WA po­ets John Kin­sella and Tracy Ryan are pre­par­ing to launch half a life­time of work by Glen Phillips.

Phillips is one of the ‘South­ern Cross’ po­ets, hav­ing been born in the re­gion in 1936, and his po­etry, es­says and prose have been pub­lished in sev­eral lan­guages.

The 50-year col­lec­tion, ti­tled In the Hol­low of the Land 1968-2018, will be re­leased on July 7 at the Katharine Su­san­nah Prichard Writ­ers’ Cen­tre.

Pro­fes­sor Phillips is a pa­tron of the cen­tre in Green­mount and a found­ing mem­ber of the Peter Cowan Writ­ers Cen­tre in Joon­dalup.

He is the di­rec­tor of the In­ter­na­tional Cen­tre for Land­scape and Lan­guage at ECU and his in­ter­est in land­scape fea­tures heav­ily in the col­lec­tion.

The reader is taken on a lyri­cal jour­ney from re­gional WA to a res­i­dency in Tus­cany and fi­nally on to China.

The event will in­clude read­ings, book sign­ings and re­fresh­ments re­flect­ing the Ital­ian, South-West and Chi­nese in­flu­ences of the col­lec­tion.
