Polocrosse riding high in 50th year
THE Swan Valley will host this year’s National Polocrosse Championships.
It is the fourth time in almost 40 years that WA has hosted the event. This year is set to be special, with the championships celebrating its golden jubilee.
It is expected to attract more than 1500 visitors to Perth, with 570 players from all over the world set to take part in the seven-day event at the State Equestrian Centre.
Tourism Minister Paul Papalia said he was looking forward to showcasing how much Perth had changed in the past 10 years since the championships were last held here.
“Mass participation events such as this attract visitors to the state, which helps to fill hotel rooms, creates jobs and makes a contribution to the $10.1 billion tourism industry through visitor spend,” he said.
The Swan Valley National Polocrosse Championships will be held from October 1 to 7.
