Well it is that time of the year again and this year has been a big one. In 2017, the NSW Liberal-National Government has delivered the most extensive spending package to the people of NSW in generations. The Government recorded a huge $2.7 billion surplus and injected hundreds of billions of dollars into infrastructure and services across the state, something Labor could never do. This includes $72.7 billion into infrastructure projects, $4.2 billion into new schools and school upgrades and $7.7 billion into new hospitals and health infrastructure over the next four years.

The Government is putting in the effort to make housing more affordable with a series of grants and concessions available for first home buyers which are already being taken advantage of. We also introduced the Active Kids Rebate where families in NSW will be able to receive up to $100 per child each year to help get kids involved in community sport.

Recently the Premier announced free vehicle registration for all drivers paying more than $25 each week on tolls, saving drivers up to $715 a year. We are also assisting families meet the cost of early childhood education, with $217.3 million over the next four years into the Start Strong programme. This will provide every child access to 600 hours of pre-schooling in the year before they start school. The Government is also reforming the CTP Green Slip Scheme which will effectively slash $100 of Green Slips by January 2018. These are just some of the Government initiatives aimed at reducing the cost of living for families.

In the Hawkesbury the NSW Government is delivering progress. The Windsor Bridge Replacement Project is underway with construction to commence in mid-2018. We are putting together the final plans for the Pitt Town Bypass and the Grose River Bridge. We also are continuing to improve roads across the electorate. I am in partnership with local community organisations and Destination NSW to establish the Hawkesbury as a key tourism destination which will bring a huge influx of visitors and economic gains to local businesses.

As I said, it’s been a big year but I can say that the best is yet come.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Helen and I and bring it on 2018.
