Young Prize Win­ning Per­form­ers at Bonus Gal­ston Con­cert

The Gal­ston Con­certs of­fer a spe­cial bonus event fea­tur­ing ris­ing stars on 8 April. Start­ing 2pm in Gal­ston Unit­ing Church, 11 School Road, the con­cert will show­case prize win­ners as part of The Gal­ston Con­certs phi­los­o­phy of sup­port­ing young per­form­ers. 16-year-old Matthew Brice is a mul­ti­ple · ‘first-placer’ in State and Na­tional eu­pho­nium cham­pi­onships.

Cel­list Gabrielle Zhong, 12 years old, is a · can­di­date for her A.Mus.A. diploma af­ter just six years of study.

17-year-old Alexan­der Frisina is a mem­ber of North Syd­ney Boys High’s award-win­ning sax­o­phone quar­tet and Sym­phonic Winds en­sem­ble which has toured in Europe. 15-year-old vi­o­lin­ist Eu­nice Cheng, of James Ruse High, achieved her A.Mus.A. in 2015 – in both vi­o­lin and in pi­ano. Mizushima, first prizewin­ner of the Syd­ney Or­gan Com­pe­ti­tion in 2016, will per­form on the his­toric 1888 church or­gan.

The 8 April gala fea­tures mu­sic by the great J. S. Bach and con­trasts in folk, jazz, rock and tango styles – with the fa­mous Swan from Car­ni­val of the An­i­mals as a cello and or­gan en­core.
