AN­ZAC Am­bas­sadors

Four Hills teenagers have been se­lected as An­zac Day Am­bas­sadors and will be an in­te­gral part of ser­vices on April 22 and April 25 at the Cen­te­nary An­zac Re­serve at Kel­lyville.

Cali Doyle from Hills Gram­mar, Ken­thurst; Anna An­tonito from Kel­lyville High, Michael Dell'Aquila from Mar­ian Col­lege, Ken­thurst and Jesse Krauk­st­sGaro­fano from Oakhill Col­lege, Cas­tle Hill have been named the Hills 2018 An­zac Am­bas­sadors by Cas­tle Hill RSL sub-branch.

All sec­ondary schools in the Hills were in­vited to nom­i­nate a Year 11 stu­dent for se­lec­tion as am­bas­sador. The nom­i­nated stu­dents were in­ter­viewed by a panel in­clud­ing Hills Mayor Michelle Byrne who praised the cal­i­bre of stu­dents in­ter­viewed.

On An­zac Day in 1918 the sec­ond bat­tle of Villers-Bret­toneaux oc­curred and is con­sid­ered the turn­ing point of World War I.

A cen­tury later, the Hills An­zac am­bas­sadors will speak about the cam­paign at the Cen­te­nary of An­zac Re­serve at both the An­zac Sunday ser­vice on April 22 and the Dawn Ser­vice on Wednesday, April 25.

The four stu­dents un­der­went train­ing in pub­lic speak­ing by Gareth McCray of Ra­dio 2CH last week.

The Cas­tle Hill RSL Sub-Branch Sec­ondary School Am­bas­sador Pro­gram be­gan in 2015, the first year of the Cen­te­nary of An­zac.

Co-or­di­na­tor Bryan Mul­lan said: “This year the am­bas­sadors will have ad­di­tional du­ties as the Cen­te­nary of the Armistice is com­mem­o­rated on Novem­ber 11."

The ser­vice on An­zac Sunday is at 9am on April 22. The Dawn Ser­vice is

at 6am on Wednesday, April 25 but park­ing is lim­ited so ar­rive ear­lier. Both ser­vices will be held at the Cen­te­nary of An­zac Re­serve, Wrights Rd, Kel­lyville.
