The Zonta In­ter­na­tional Club of Syd­ney Hills held its an­nual Say No to Do­mes­tic Vi­o­lence din­ner on Mon­day night.

Cheque pre­sen­ta­tions were made by the club to both the Lisa Har­num Foun­da­tion and The Sanc­tu­ary_the Hills women’s shel­ter, to help with their work help­ing vic­tims of do­mes­tic abuse.

Founder of the Lisa Har­num Foun­da­tion Aileen Moun­ti­field spoke about the 61 women who had been killed so far as a re­sult of do­mes­tic vi­o­lence. The fig­ure was al­ready out­dated the next day.

The Lisa Har­num Foun­da­tion has set up a Safe Room where women can speak to trained a coun­sel­lor at Cas­tle Tow­ers shop­ping Cen­tre, it now has a sim­i­lar safe room in Ryde.
