ANNA PAPAHARISI FROM ANNAVASILY
The tableware designer shares her inspirations and predictions for future trends
What’s a typical work day?
I love to show up to life early... to watch the sunrise with a cup of coffee. At 7am, I kiss my son, then I walk my golden retriever at the park. Around 8.30 I start organising my head for the day. I have a few phone calls and then I head to the office. That’s management time! After lunch I head for my studio. It’s where my creative juices start flowing. A drink and good food after work with my best friend is always relaxing, especially coupled with a beautiful sunset!
What’s your biggest source of inspiration?
Nature is the best teacher of patterns and colours, so I try to spend time with her.
Which trends and colours do you have your eye on at the moment?
Night blue is currently my favourite colour; it can appear to be black, but it’s not. It has grace and elegance but is also strong and masculine; it’s the colour of the deep sea. I was so excited to see the new Dior collection is an homage to dark blues! In terms of trends, I love patterns; my objects always have patterns and structure; they have character. I can’t stand boring white plates.
And which colours and trends will you never tire of?
The darks, the creams, the greys and the light blues. I love red personally, but I don’t often use it for my tableware.
What’s your favourite way to entertain?
Finger food and drinks on awesome platters, great laughs, big smiles!
