LIVING & DINING AREA
Family hand-me-downs and flea market finds make up most of the furniture in the home, adding to the relaxed yet refined feel (top). Hanging on the far wall of the living area are portraits of the girls by photographer Christoffer Relander. The open-plan area’s floorboards are crafted from whitewashed Douglas fir. “The home was constructed along with the philosophy of what’s called ‘akta vara’ in Swedish,” says Mathias. “This translates to genuine products. We know what each building material contains. If or when demolished, most parts do not harm the environment in any way.” A piano that belonged to Mathias and his siblings when he was a child is located on the far wall of the dining area (above left), and music can be heard in the home every day – Mathias and his youngest daughter, Ingrid, are the musicians of the family.
