WE LOVE
Heralding from computer games and a return to traditional engineering, the steampunk style is about taking contemporary technology and reimagining it as if it had been created by the Victorians. As HR judge Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen sees it, “It’s part of a growing trend where we want our environments to be less soulless, more craftsmen-oriented and bespoke,” he says. In a bathroom, copper piping is peak steampunk – engaging a plumber to make a system that brings hot water into the bathroom and out again in as simplistic a way as possible. “There’s an engaged reality to it,” says Laurence. “It’s doing something with a craftsman slant.”
