RENOVATION TIMELINE

-

SEPTEMBER 2012: Demolition starts. The original kitchen, bathroom and deck are removed. “Luckily we were holidaying in New York at the time and missed the heartache,” says Andrew. OCTOBER 2012: The house is raised. “It happened incredibly quickly,” says Andrew. “We came home from work one day and it was up there on stilts.” Timber framing is installed for new walls both upstairs and down. DECEMBER 2012: Holes are discovered in the old roof. “We could have got a few more years out of it, but it seemed easier to replace it while we weren’t living in the house,” says Andrew. JANUARY 2013: Shortly after plumbing and electrics are installed, a huge storm wipes out the power for days. “Our builder, Keith, came over with a generator so the guys could keep working,” explains Andrew. “They also had to remove a tree, which had crashed down in the storm, right into our living room!” MARCH 2013: The new kitchen and bathrooms are installed. Walls are plastered and painted in Dulux Antique White USA. MAY 2013: Original hardwood floors are repolished and new timber and carpet floors laid. The couple move back in.
