“All cabinetry needs to be created ‘in frame’ to achieve the full effect of classic styling,” says designer Dominique McAdam, referring to the technique where doors and drawers fit within a wooden frame, and the frame’s face remains visible in-between. “Break it up with open shelving or a mirror overhead. And painting the cabinets supplies warmth and texture and is the only way to properly achieve ‘the look’.”
