WHAT YOU WANT WILL CHANGE

Despite all your careful thought and planning, you’re likely to find that your needs and wants change after living in a home for a few years. You don’t really know what you want in a house until you’ve lived in it for

a while. In the “needs” category, maybe you over or underestimated the eventual size of your family. Maybe that northern sun is hotter than you expected and the sun deck you wanted would be better with a roof. If you haven’t over-committed to do everything at once, you can make sound decisions later. As for “wants”, your tastes will also change.

For most of us, our homes are a work in progress, both for reasons of fashion and need. If the third bathroom is only completed to lock-up on the day you move in, it will be more up-to-date a couple of years later, sparing you a renovation. (Yes, I know it will be annoying in

the meantime, but I’m trying to offer consolation here.)
