Interior designer Carmel Wylie makes a strong argument for positioning the dishwasher in the butler’s pantry, as she did here. “When you’re entertaining, all the dirty dishes can be taken straight to the pantry, the door closed and you can deal with them at the end of the night,” she says. “But if you do opt for this, I’d advise storing the cutlery and crockery in the pantry, so that everything is within easy reach.”
