SLEEP IN JAPAN
A signature element of traditional Japanese design, shoji screens are not just practical, they also make for a striking design feature. Their lightweight timber frames and washi paper or acrylic panels have a restrained look and add a contemporary feel with a touch of softness, as they diffuse light beautifully. Their greatest asset, however, lies in their versatility. “They can be designed and custom built to suit an open space as either single or bi-parting wall face sliders,” explains Matt Huxtable, MD of Brisbane-based Shoji Screens and Doors.
