˜yellow˜
Inspired by sun-soaked Palm Springs, the yellow of the moment is reminiscent of 1980s shades of mustard. “This year, we’re not seeing the brighter yellows which were strong in 2017,” says Andrea Lucena-Orr. “This is often the case of yellows in Australia though – they tend to be popular for a short time and then come through the cycle more often when we need a more positive outlook.” For 2018, yellow is looking more saturated, echoing the upbeat and rich style of mid-century modern design. For a retro scene with a hint of luxe, this hue sits best with deep blues, traces of gold and, of course, some Palm Springs pink. Alternatively, for an earth-inspired interior, leafy greens are the perfect match.
