Generally speaking, winter styling is embodied by the word ‘more’ – more layers and textures, and richer colours – but according to

Emily Treganowan, we’re seeing this concept expand. “After spending some time sitting peacefully in a minimalist climate, this season we are beginning to witness a migration back to maximalism,” she says. “It’s all about combining plains in luxurious hues and fabrics with romantic florals and painterly splashes.” Colourwise, last year’s millennial pink is this year’s teal, a deeper hue that will sit happily with pink’s old mates of grey and white. Mostly, though, winter trends are all about texture: think tactile fabrics and rugs on a neutral base, with globally inspired patterns that are a little bit tribal or bohemian.
