rugging up the rest

-

Though much of our time at home in winter is spent between couch and bed, there’s plenty to be done to amp up the comfort factor throughout the other areas of your home. “A doormat at the entryway, or a little hall runner, will make it warmer to sit and take your shoes off when you get home each day,” suggests Emma Blomfield. Thinner rugs are perfect for seasonal styling – they can be folded and stored in the linen press during summer, and are often machine washable, making them ideal for laying under the dining table. Use an underlay to stop them slipping and for extra cushioning. Don’t neglect your outdoor areas, too – layered up with an outdoor rug, toasty throws and comfy cushions, your patio or verandah might well become your new favourite winter nook.
