WITH A BRIEF

that demanded ‘a modern Aussie outdoor style’, the House Rules contestants turned brothers Josh and Brandon’s backyard into a true bachelor hangout, with multiple chill-out areas, a swim-up bar and a beer garden. Here, ample seating around an Outdoor Design & Living fire pit is provided by the ‘Haven’ bench and stacking chairs and ‘Bode’ two-seater sofa, all from Early Settler.

POOL

Using a 3.45m diameter Australian plunge pool, the contestants created a swim zone on a budget (right), encircled with pavers from Brickworks that offers an impactful contrast to the decking boards, sourced from DTM Timber. Stainlesssteel sun loungers from Outdoor Design & Living add to the resort-chic vibe. “This pool is a fabulous solution for adding a bit of luxury into a small space – and building the decking gave it a sense of truly being part of the landscape,” says Wendy.

OUTDOOR SHOWER

The perfect complement to a swim zone, no pool area is complete without an outdoor shower (left). Here, a discreet model is nestled among the greenery, providing an extra layer of privacy. “An outdoor shower is the new must-have in a backyard with a pool, and this proves a simple execution can be highly effective,” says
