FOREVER HOME

ONCE A POKY OLD BRICK BUNGALOW, THIS BEAUTY HAS BEEN TRANSFORMED INTO A STYLISH, HAMPTONS-STYLE FAMILY HAVEN

A DREAM COMES TRUE

When Joe and Suzanne first bought their tired 1930s era home, Joe took some convincing to say the least. “Joe hated it,” says Suzanne. “It was a brick bungalow with a bad ’80s reno, but I had the vision of turning it into a Hamptons-style home.” It was Suzanne’s dream to build their forever home, one the kids would always love coming back to. With the wheels in motion, Joe and Suzanne set about their renovation with a plan to extend the existing house and recreate the classic two-storey Hamptons-style home. With plans quickly approved by council and drawings done, Joe and Suzanne agreed the upper storey’s weatherboard cladding should be a more durable alternative to timber. At the suggestion of their builder, they chose Linea weatherboards from James Hardie’s Scyon walls range because they don’t warp, expand or contract like timber, so they hold their good looks and require less maintenance. Another plus was the ability to paint them to perfectly match their colour scheme. And the results are stunning, with Suzanne’s vision complete. “Seeing our ideas come to life is so rewarding. We feel lucky to live here.” The Scyon range of horizontal, vertical, panel and weatherboard-look cladding options provides you with a range of solutions to perfectly suit your choice of interior and exterior style, from Joe and Suzanne’s Hamptons look, through to contemporary, traditional and country homes. Scyon products are also resistant to damage from moisture and termites.
