A MODERN ALTERNATIVE TO TIMBER DECKING HAS GIVEN THIS FAMILY A NEW OUTDOOR SPACE AND MORE TIME TO ENJOY IT

Life in sunny Queensland is all about the great outdoors, so when Denise and Adam decided to renovate their home, they decided phase one would be the pool and deck. The couple were fans of the traditional timber deck look but Adam had his doubts. “I have seen timber decks fail beside pools in under five years,” he says. “They have an enormous number of maintenance issues and without very fussy treatment and constant repainting or staining they can look pretty average pretty quickly.” So Adam set about doing his homework and discovered a better alternative to timber that ticked all the boxes. “We liked the wide-board appearance of the HardieDeck™. This turned out to be very true.” The finished result seems to have struck a chord with the whole family, who couldn’t be happier with the result. “The install time is definitely faster, and this created a distinct saving in both install time and labour costs” says Adam. “It has given us a truly awesome outdoor space to enjoy our pool and surrounds, and if last summer is anything to go by, our teenage daughter’s friends seem to be gravitating to our place!”
