GOLD COAST-BASED INTERIOR DESIGNER KELLE HOWARD (ABOVE) IS AHEAD OF THE CURVE WITH HER NEW VOLUPTUOUS COLLABORATION WITH OBJECT X
Tell us a bit about your collaboration with Object X and what was the inspiration behind the new collection?
Kelle: “I met Matt and Emma from Object X when I styled a shoot for [them] last year. We spoke about doing a collab together and made it come to life. I wanted to create pieces that felt organic in nature. I wanted a soft tone that would work well in both masculine and feminine spaces. Each table top has an almost primitive element to them – each shape irregular but smooth – and shaped by hand. Venetian plaster adds a sensory experience to each piece.”
What is your favorite piece from the collection?
“I adore [the dining table] ‘Object 01’, which I have in my own home. Natalie Bassingthwaite recently purchased ‘Object 02’ (pictured below) for her new home and the curves look sensational.”
How would you describe your personal interior style?
“I describe my aesthetic as raw, coastal, luxe. I’m heavily influenced by Ibizan architecture and I love raw, textures that make a space feel like it has depth and history.”
What’s the best piece of styling advice you’ve received?
“Don’t worry about whether it’s in vogue. When I built my own home, the Mediterranean style hadn’t really taken off yet in Australia. [Now there is a] big trend for that style, but I’m not worried that it will go out of fashion because it truly represents me and that’s what matters the most.” Explore the full range at objectx.com.au.
