Interior designer Kristie Hill of Colourcube Interiors shares her tips on using surfaces, hardware and colour to create a luxurious bathroom

1. “Use natural stone benchtops and tiles if your budget permits,” says Kristie. “Selecting tiles that are different from the standard dimensions adds wow-factor.”

2. “Play with different tapware and hardware finishes to create interest. Brass accents are always going to be a showstopper but, depending on the style you are trying to achieve, brushed nickel is a favourite, too.”

3. “Select a tonal palette when you’re choosing a colour scheme and stay away from expansive all-white walls. If you consider all those amazing restrooms in five-star hotels, they have so much depth and contrast throughout the entire room, and this adds to their luxe appeal.”
