Another key consideration is radius – the surface area of the edge – according to Emma Bush, brand manager at Caesarstone Australia. “Whether you opt for a square-edge or round-edge profile, to help reduce the likelihood of chips, we recommend all profiles have a rounded-off edge with a minimum 3-4mm radius, or 6mm for added durability,” says Emma. Also factor how the profile will look from every angle, particularly if you plan on using a honed or matt benchtop material. “For polished surfaces, you can ask your stonemason to match the edge fabrication to the same finish,” says Emma. “But for benchtops with a natural or rough finish, the only option for a rounded-edge profile is polished.”
