ANNA SPIRO

ANNA’S FAVOURITE PLACES, SPACES, PEOPLE AND IDEAS TO INSPIRE, MOTIVATE AND CELEBRATE

-

Where do you like to shop? “Lee Matthews, 1st Dibs, The Bay Tree, Elliott Clarke for fabrics, Liberty London, Matches Fashion, Anthropologie [1].

What do you have your eye on right now? “I’d love a Cecilie Bahnsen dress [6], a really big Ken Done painting [2] and an Annie Morris sculpture [3].”

Your favourite artist/s? “Cressida Campbell, Nicholas Harding, Bronte Leighton-Dore, Lucy Culliton, Sally Anderson, Ken Done and lots more!” Where do you feel most at home? “At my home on Stradbroke Island.”

And if you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?

“Anywhere and everywhere, but Italy [4] always has my heart!!!”

Your favourite restaurant? “Sean’s in Bondi, Sydney [5].”

What do we need more of in the world? “Unity, compassion, colour and pattern!” What’s your favourite colour combination? “Hmmm, that changes constantly but at the moment I love brown and yellow.”

What or who is your biggest inspiration? “People who embrace and celebrate their own individual style. I love people who go against the tide – wild people, who don’t really adhere to strict rules or don’t fit into a certain mould.”

What projects are you currently working on or looking forward to?

“I’m renovating an old Victorian house in Melbourne with my partner Luke, which is very exciting. I’m also renovating my old building in New Farm, Brisbane, and about to open a new store in the corner shop of the building called Spiro Store, which will be filled with lots of amazing things from my Anna Spiro brand, antiques and art, furniture, etc.”

What’s on your bedside table at the moment? “My bedside lamp, a small bunch of sweet peas in an old vintage vase, a stack of the latest magazines, my favourite Sisley Paris face cream, some shells I collected from the beach recently, one of my Anna Spiro for Anthropologie candles and some very old, small love story books that Luke bought me.” Success looks like…

“When you can do what you love every single day and all the hard work you’ve done starts to pay off and things fall into line. I also think it’s being able to have a good balance between your career and time for your family and yourself. If you can get that right, I think you are pretty successful.”
