NATALEE BOWEN
NATALEE’S FAVOURITE PLACES, SPACES AND IDEAS TO INSPIRE, MOTIVATE AND CELEBRATE
What do you love most about Hamptons style? “The Hamptons style is a broad and flexible spectrum. Whether you’re drawn to the lush tropical aesthetic or prefer a high-end glamorous look... every personality has the opportunity to shine through in a Hamptons home!”
What is the key to designing a Hamptons home that caters to the Australian
lifestyle? “The Hamptons style of home we know in Australia fits easily into our coastal and rural landscape. The wide verandahs provide shade while French doors are the perfect invitation for indoor/outdoor entertaining.”
What are your go-to colours, fabrics and finishes? “I love all shades of blue and green and I don’t believe that colours need to be matchy-matchy.
When it comes to styling and furniture, we use a lot of natural textures, particularly jute and linen, with sofas upholstered in loose covers of blue or white. For hardware, I mostly use polished nickel and matte black.”
Where do you find inspiration? “I think when you are creative you draw from everything in your environment, like a holiday destination, movies, social media or a past memory.”
Where do you go to relax? “The Hamptons Farm Estate [8] is my happy place.”
What does success look like to you? “There is no final destination called success, it’s an evolving journey and a consistent striving for greater things, for our clients and the brands we collaborate with.”
Where is your favourite restaurant? “I love a great pizza or burger... I love Cafe Toscano [7] in Forster, NSW, – amazing!”
Where do you like to shop? “From my own shop and online store, Indah Island & Co [4]. I also love a hunt through antique stores, you never know what treasure I’ll bring home with me! Antique shops like Lunatiques or Parterre (3) in Sydney or Dirty Janes [6] in Bowral, NSW. I love building brands like James Hardie, Brodware [9] and Intrim Mouldings [8].”
What is at the top of your wish list right now? “I’ve just bought a beautiful Christian Dior handbag [1] that is a blue-and-white masterpiece. I’ve been drooling over some antique carriage clocks [5] of late, and I am on the hunt for some eclectic antique chairs to reupholster in our new fabric collection!”
