Wood Varnish Polish Made Easy

The easy way to achieve a high shine and remove light scratches and build-up without the aid of silicon

-

Polishing varnished wooden surfaces are very much back in vogue, and for some people they have been preferred for many years.

Creating a high shine on furniture using Howard Restor-A-Finish has been a favourite method for revitalising varnished surfaces for 40 years, however in some cases the original shine is not quite able to be achieved with this much loved varnish restoration product.

The way to get a great shine back is to use Restor-A-Finish as a preliminary treatment and follow-up with new Restor-A-Shine Polishing Compound. What also needs to be touched on more fully is the problem of floors that have lost their shine and are covered in light scratches, especially highly polished floating floors . Modern high-shine floors cannot be successfully repaired by using Restor-A-Finish alone because it cannot melt and re-spread space age Carbamate ester based polyurethane finishes in the same way that it can penetrate and melt early era shellac based varnish finishes and older style two pot polyurethane varnishes.

Modern polyurethane based materials are commonly formulated as varnishes to protect or seal wood and the results ins a hard and durable coating which has become popular for hardwood floors. This kind of varnish however, is susceptible to deterioration, making the surface brittle and easy to scratch via exposure to ultra-violet (UV) rays. This happens fairly quickly partly due to polyurethane’s lesser penetration into the wood. This is where a light cutting polish which also creates a hard finish, comes into its own. Most of the compounds available are silicone based and also contain harsh abrasives and certain drying agents and chemicals . Howard Products have devised a new style of polish containing micro-polishing powders combined with orange oil and select waxes , and does

NOT contain silicone or Linseed oil as fillers. This extremely safe cream will not lift veneer, and can be used by hand for buffing and polishing or can be used on floors with an electric buffer. This brilliant product can also cut away grime and restore the shine to items like guitars or violins, chairs and tables, which have become scratched and marked with sweaty build-up. In the panel opposite you’ll see several household surfaces that have been beautifully restored using new Howard Restor-A-Shine The hard varnished floor has come up fantastically, and the once lightly scratched lounge chair has been successfully repaired and looks just marvellous. The early ding chair had a very dull back due to handling and now just look at the difference Restor-A-Shine Polishing can make.
