Welcome to the Christmas edition of homes+, an issue with as many bells, whistles and baubles as we could fit into the pages. Our mission was to bring you the best ideas and inspiration to help you make, celebrate and decorate your way to a magical Christmas. I hope you feel as excited about the festive season when you read this issue as we did putting it together.
One of the things I love about Christmas is creating experiences and making memories. I still feel warm and fuzzy looking at this photo of my son and the cookie tree I made for a party we had about seven years ago.
With my home renovation complete and a new guest room, we have some of our New Zealand family coming to stay, and I can’t wait. We’re usually the ones who are going away, so I don’t go overboard on decorating the house – but this year I can go for it!
In this issue we also get a glimpse of how other people celebrate. Our readers’ homes this month are all bursting with great ideas and festive touches to steal. Loren’s tree, on the cover, is beautifully adorned with pink and white flowers. She says the annual family outing to the Christmas tree farm is a highlight of their calendar (see how to recreate her Christmas look on page 46).
Sydneysider Jodi’s memories of cooking and decorating the tree with her mum make this her favourite time of year. As you’ll see, she loves DIY and craft projects and always hangs a stunning wreath or two (make her pompom and ivy one on page 67).
There are far too many fabulous ideas in this issue to mention here, but I feel confident that you will feel inspired and excited by the time you have finished reading.
From the homes+ team, we wish you a peaceful, happy and magical Christmas.
