Art has always been important in Lucy’s family – her mother Kerry-Anne is an artist and art critic, her father Ian an amateur photographer in his spare time and, when young, she and her sister Sara spent hours in art galleries and museums. “One of the previous owners of this house was an artist and this was his studio,” Lucy says. “So it’s got a history of art and inspiration, plus the views are stunning – and I’ve just started drawing classes, so I wanted somewhere to do art.”

Lucy and Michael created three areas – the artist’s spot with easel, stool, artist mood board and view of the mountains, the boho couch area with pillows, rugs and view through the door to the valley, and the bookshelf with art inspiration and a kettle. “We wanted it to be a space that could be used and made messy, so guests would feel comfortable and at home.”
