If it’s been a dry year, Lucy and Michael need to ensure they’ve been watering enough, especially their ferns.
They regularly trim overgrowing plants from the pathway and trails that run around the garden.
In early winter, most of the summer growth on plants such as hydrangeas need trimming, and the fruit trees get an annual prune.
The spring-flowering perennials in the top terrace garden need to be clipped back in winter.
And as in any garden with a range of deciduous trees, Lucy and Michael spend a lot of time raking leaves in autumn and winter.
