Tableau: A kitchen you want to keep Cantilever

-

For Melbourne-based kitchen manufacturing company Cantilever Interiors, longevity and modern Australian needs are at the core of its designs and products. It’s this ethos that led to a collaboration with renowned studio Design Office, which saw Cantilever redefine the kitchen with the release of Tableau, the fourth system in the company’s range.

Refined and crafted, Tableau is a premium kitchen system that is akin to a piece of high-end furniture – it shapes and defines the habitat surrounding it, rather than the other way around. Tableau was conceived as a series of versatile, considered components that come together to create a range of kitchen solutions. Its name refers to the striking way in which the system’s various elements entwine to create a visually unified composition.

The system cements Cantilever’s position as a design-led, sustainable kitchen manufacturer using highquality, durable materials built to last. The elements that define a Tableau kitchen include lozenge-shaped handles, unexpected curved edges and signature open shelving.

Combining handcrafted details with an evolved, elegant aesthetic, Tableau demonstrates Design Office and Cantilever’s expertise. Cantilever director Travis Dean explains how Tableau exemplifies the brand’s commitment to its designer-maker ethos and ability to “deliver.”

“We combine leading Australian design with functional adaptability and quality materials by engaging innovative manufacturing processes,” he says.

“Handcrafted details are kept at the centre and the effect is a beautifully made product, with a unique outcome for each project. Tableau is a kitchen people want to keep in terms of both longevity and timelessness in design.”

User-centred design principles are a hallmark of Cantilever’s products. While each element is bound to its material and detail resolution, there is an inherent flexibility that allows for adaptability in the practical application of the systems.

Tableau is defined by and comprised of four functional elements: Block, Bench, Shelf and Store. These elements can be used as standalone pieces or be joined by Seam, a connector channel. Each kitchen is made to millimetre tolerances, designed to adapt to each space, utility and client. Available in three colour palettes, Tableau is handmade in Melbourne and can be specified for any application.
