Sleek, minimalist finishes for a contemporary home by the water Dekton
Project description
Designed by Alec Pappas Architects, this new house located south of Sydney in Kyle Bay is designed to make the most of the water views from all living areas and bedrooms on the second floor. The clients wanted a minimalist, contemporary home that wouldn’t date and that would complement the streetscape and the other modern homes nearby. The twostorey house has a strong horizontal form, a high ceiling and expansive windows that bring in natural light and frame the views of Georges River.
Design concept
The clients – a couple with two teenage children – wanted a clutter-free, low-maintenance interior with natural-coloured materials and a minimalist colour scheme. The clients have a close working relationship with benchtop fabricator and installer Form-Rite Co. which suggested the use of Dekton. Form-Rite regularly works with Dekton for kitchens, bathrooms and laundries. The sleek material and elegant colour range suited the minimalist architecture and the preferences of the clients, and it has been used for the kitchen and bathrooms, as well as for the dining table, the credenza and the outdoor paving. Dekton surfaces have been used throughout this stylish home overlooking Georges River, south of Sydney. The sleek finish of Dekton suits the homeowners’ penchant for minimalism and complements the understated design of the house.
