Imaginefx’s ensuring success, and a request
I’ve been a long-term subscriber to Imaginefx for many years and still look forward to its arrival every month. I’ve followed a variety of art-related magazines over the years and many have come and gone, so it’s a testament to your team’s hard work and the artistic contributors that the magazine has endured where others have failed.
I also think the format for the magazine really works. The variety of sections and the layout definitely contribute to its success. I’m also pleased that despite one size change, the magazine has remained the same uniform design and shape. I used to get very annoyed by magazines that kept messing about with sizes and formats so the magazines/books didn’t sit uniformly on a shelf (that’s the meticulous graphic designer in me talking, but I know that it bothers a few people, too).
I discovered the Australian illustrator Patrick Brown through your magazine and absolutely love his work. His attention to detail, textures and understanding of light is exceptional. I know he’s briefly featured in Imaginefx before, but if you could ever prise a video tutorial from him sharing his techniques I would be most grateful.
I’m also impressed with the work of Anna Podedworna who has done some exceptional artwork for the Witcher game. Again, her understanding of light and use of texture is unsurpassed. I found her on Artstation. If you find her image of a character called Ida Emean in a yellow dress, walking past a cat you’ll see exactly what I mean. If you want me to send you the link or image for convenience please let me know.
A tutorial from either or both of these talented artists would be most welcome. Please feel free to use bribery, blackmail, whatever it takes. If they appear in the same issue I’ll frame it and get it insured.

Claire replies David, thanks so much for your email. I had to cut it back quite considerably to fit it in our Letters page, but rest assured we did take all of your points on board. I love Anna Podedworna’s work. You’re absolutely right – her use of light is exceptional. Patrick Brown is fantastic, too. I’m so lucky to be able to find and feature artists of such high calibre in Imaginefx. It really is a dream of a job.
