Adding magical details to the scene
A great way to give images more punch is adding “particles”. This refers to any and all small, punctual pops in colour and/or contrast. They work best in strategic places, not all over the image. It can be dust particles or insects caught in the moonlight, water droplets falling from the ceiling, highlights on wet surfaces or embers from a torch. For Klaus this is the most fun part of the painting apart from the compositional sketch.
