Blinds Designed For Sustainability And Wellness
Verosol has a strong track record of ecological responsibility.
The company is founded upon its commitment to ‘creating a better environment’, and is responsible for products like Silverscreen, a range of metallised curtain and blind fabrics that reflect up to 85 per cent of solar radiation while improving the thermal efficiency of residential and commercial buildings.
Expanding beyond the benefits of sustainability, Verosol’s blinds also deliver on critical wellbeing principles – across settings of healthcare, workplace and more. When specified correctly, the company’s interior solar shading fabrics and blinds can actively promote holistic health and effectively support patient recovery.
In the case of the Brisbane-located Herston Surgical Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS), Verosol’s 205 SilverScreen Performance, and 737 Veropaque manual chain operated roller blinds, contribute to the architects’ stated aim of establishing STARS as a new type of health facility that champions a patient-centric model of care; a place in which the focus is on patient recovery and natural light is welcome. The blinds effectively moderate the sub-tropical Brisbane heat resulting in energy savings of up to 270 MWh per annum and cost savings of over $22,300 per annum. The blinds also ensure patients have a pleasant environment in which to recuperate. They provide them with privacy and light control and, considering the simple chain operation mechanisms, patients can actively adjust their environment to suit their needs.
Employed at Smart Design Studio’s award winning workplace in Sydney, blinds incorporating SilverScreen fabrics are helping keep the practice’s employees cool – even through the hottest summer days – without the need for air conditioning.
Fully-automated and controlled by a state-of-the-art building management system to optimise their performance, the blinds deliver the studio all the natural light it needs. As Smart Design Studio employees have noted, the blinds have helped ensure the studio is “a beautiful space to work in” – a space that energises them and contributes to their overall wellness.
