Inside Out (Australia)

“Up here, one truly feels alone in the world”

- RUT KÁRADÓTTIR, HOMEOWNER

ENTRY (opposite top left & bottom right) A circular mirrorm fits the home’s maritime feel. At the other end, the ladder-like stairs are another ship-inspired feature. They can be closed to keep the top level cosy and warm. LIVING AREA

(opposite top right & this page) Kristinn and Rut sit at the Nero Marquina marble table, one of Rut’s most beloved pieces, which took five hours to move it to its ‘Upper Deck’ position. Vertical windows slice through the angled roof to maximise views and sunlight. The flooring is brushed Siberian larch with a lye coating. EXTERIOR (opposite bottom left) The barn’s natural tones blend seamlessly into its surroundings.
