1. To have great-looking plants, you need to have happy plants, so consider the light levels. Most indoor plants love bright, indirect light but if you have a very dark or bright space, there are plants that will thrive in these environments, too. 2. I love both the minimalistic vibe and overgrown conservatory look. You can feature a giant Monstera deliciosa in one corner and pile up a collection of greenery on a table in the other, overflowing with different shapes, textures and heights. There are so many tones of green, working with a variety of them draws the eye in and through your indoor jungle. 3. I find baskets work best for bigger plants as they are lighter and easier to move around, and they look great – line them with a plastic saucer to catch any water. For other pots, the basic requirements are that they should have a drainage hole and a saucer. I’m also a big fan of aged terracotta and have a great collection filled with carnivorous plants lining my bedroom window. It’s great to follow a theme, but never go matchy matchy – think difffferent sizes and shapes. Sophia Kaplan and Lauren Camilleri’s book Leaf Supply, $ 49.95, is at leaf-supply.com.
