3 OF A KIND

Take note and make 2019 a year to remember with these new designs

- EDITED BY LUCY FRANCIS & NATALIE JOHNSON

With the new year around the corner, we meet three diary designers who can help you make 2019 a real page-turner

Amelia Lane Paper ‘Desktop Daily’

DESIGNER: Chanel White Before starting Amelia Lane Paper, Chanel White pursued a quite different job. “I’m quite possibly the world’s first terrorism analyst turned stationery designer!” she says with a laugh. Amelia Lane’s designs were the result of a desire to conquer Chanel’s sense of being overwhelmed. “A beautifully designed planner can help you think more clearly and creatively,” she says. “We are inspired by how a clean sheet of paper can provide a space to take back control of your time.” Chanel works with her team out of her home studio in Sydney’s Paddington, researching time management principles, positive psychology and effective organisation. Her Desktop Daily diary is just right for a kitchen or desk space and boasts hand-illustrated designs, gold corner protectors and high-quality paper. $69.95, amelialanepaper.com.au.

Milligram Studio x Evi O diary series

DESIGNER: Evi O Featuring bold and abstract designs, artist Evi O’s collaboration with Milligram Studio has resulted in a refreshing take on the typical weekly planner. Between a 10-year career at Penguin Books, experimenting with illustrative and 3D design and running her own studio, Sydney-based Evi is practised at juggling her own time.. “I guess it’s been an organic process for me to get to designing pieces that are purely my own,” she says. Evi’s inspiration usually comes from personal experience and “every production starts from a thought”. Her series of vivid designs for Milligram Studio (from left: Adagio, Allegro and Vivace) have been handpainted with acrylic and then screen-printed onto linen journal covers. From $44.95 each, milligram.com.

Emma Kate Co. ‘Terra Rose’ planner

DESIGNER: Emma Kate Codrington Travel-inspired design brand Emma Kate Co. was created three years ago, shortly after graphic designer and creator Emma Kate Codrington’s return from living in London. Emma had always been obsessed with design and paper, and her business provided an opportunity to create the planner she’d always wished for but could never find. “I designed every planner detail purposefully to offer space for writing your own adventure,” she says. Each planner is created at her Melbourne base and shipped around the world. “We are known for filling orders with handwritten love notes, beautiful wrapping and hidden details,” says Emma, whose ‘Terra Rose’ weekly undated planner has rose-gold foiled edging, a linen cover and a minimalistic layout, to maximise flexibility of use. $59, emmakateco.com.
